Living Near the Airport

Plans are currently underway to redevelop the airport by 2016. It is predicted that passenger number could be at a high of 9.6 million by then, meaning that considerable expansion must take place.
The plans for expansion include significant extensions to the terminal building, additional passenger stands on the main apron, additional car parking space for passengers, runway extensions and improvements to the taxiway.
All of these developments will take place after extensive investigations into the effects on the environment and the community around the airport, so that measures can be taken to minimise damage to both.
Whilst it looks likely that pollution and noise will have some impact on nearby house prices, it is hoped that the increase in jobs and ease of international access for local frequent flyers will go some way to combat this.
